Windows And Doors As An
Intrinsic Part Of Home Security
You don’t have to be a genius to have
home security. As you would have guessed, the windows and doors
of your home are like giant glowing neon targets for potential
home invaders. As a homeowner, you want to do something that
will help secure these entrances from thieves and other nasties
without having to go the whole hog with a full-scale home
security system.
Secure Windows and Doors…By Locking Them
Oh yeah. You cannot believe how many people come home from
work to find their home has been broken into. How did the thief
get inside? Open or unlocked windows and doors are like a
siren’s song for those who wish to do you or your property
harm. Before you ever set foot out of your house you need to
close and lock every entrance to your house, including your
windows and doors. It doesn’t matter if the door from your
garage to your kitchen is cut off from the outside by the
actual garage door. It doesn’t take much to move a garage door
and once inside the perimeter, your side entrance has become
the gates of paradise.
It only takes a few extra minutes to lock and secure your
windows and doors. Home security isn’t always about high tech
equipment; sometimes all you need to do to keep your home and
family safe is to take a few minutes out of your day and “close
down” your house. If your son or daughter gets home a few hours
ahead of you and you leave the side door unlocked for them, you
are inviting danger to hit when you aren’t there to protect
them. What if your children walk through an unlocked door only
to find an intruder on the other side? Send your kids to school
with the house key attached to a key ring sown into the lining
of their backpacks. If your children are too young to carry a
key, set up a time when a trusted neighbor can come over and
let your children in.
Secure Windows and Doors: Being Smart
To secure your home from the dangers outside, just be smart.
If your front door is surrounded by glass, you might want to
have wire mesh installed, or have the windows removed. It only
takes a minute to break glass and unlock a door. If your
windows are easy to get to from the outside, install security
bars or removed things on the ground that can be used to open
or get to second floor windows.
Home Security is as easy as securing your windows and doors.
What’s more, neither batteries nor wallets are required for
securing windows and doors.
