Master Lock 265D Dual Function Security Bar

I decided to buy the Master Lock Security Bar, after my next door neighbor was robbed in a home invasion. Needless to say it has my family a little shook up, and reevaluating the security of our home. We do have a monitored alarm system, but so did my next door neighbors. I decided we may need something extra.

The Master Lock 265D is very sturdy, and will secure your doors against most break in attempts. What do I mean by most attempts? Lets be serious if someone really wants to get into your home they will, but this product ensures that they cannot sneak into your home and surprise you. Breaking a door with the Master Lock 265D Security Bar in place will take some effort and will make noise and alert anyone in the area, witch is something no burglar wants.

Another benefit of these security bars is there resistance to key bumping. Incase you do not know Key bumping is a method of picking locks, and it is one way burglars slip into your home without having to damage the door. A good security bar will prevent this from happening.

I also liked the simplicity of the unit. Basically all that is required is you attach the end of the bar designed for the door knob, make a simple adjustment for length, and lock the unit in place by kicking it toward the door…very simple.

I also purchased a second unit for our bedroom, for those times when my wife is home alone. It creates a safe zone in the house, so if all else fails…alarms, door locks etc, she knows the bedroom is secure.

I do not want to sound like a salesman, but this unit would be great for apartment renters. Most apartment owners cannot, or do not want to invest in a security system that will have to be left behind when they move, this would be perfect for them.

Okay after singing the praises of the Master Lock 265D, let me point out one glaring weakness. The security bar does brace the door, but a clever burglar could simply lift the patio door out of its frame and gain entry that way. I am sure there are other products designed strictly for patio doors.

All things considered, I am happy with my purchase of this product. It is reassuring to know that because of an investment of less than 60 dollars, I have improved the security of my home greatly.
