Intermatic Wireless Window Alarm

I purchased the Intermatic Wireless Window Alarm last year, after the birth of my first child. Its amazing how having a family causes you to think about these things. We were looking for some inexpensive ways to protect our home. We really wanted to go with the monitored system by Adt or Brinks, but the Intermatic Wireless system was best suited for our non existent budget.

We ordered five Window Alarm, four for main floor windows, and one for the sliding patio door. I was worried about being able to install the alarms by myself, especially since I have trouble opening jars of peanut butter, but the installation was very simple…total no brainier. Basically you install the batteries and position the alarms in place using the supplied Velcro tape.

My wife was worried that we would not be able to hear the window alarm ringing by our son’s room, so we did a test run. I am happy to report that we could clearly hear the alarm ringing from across the house and behind closed doors, and our neighbors could also hear the alarm.

We also installed an alarm unit on our rear patio door that will serve a dual purpose. After talking with a few friends and hearing stories about there kids learning to walk, and suddenly developing wanderlust. We realized that the alarm on the patio door will serve double duty, keeping burglars out, and keeping our kids inside.

We have used the Intermatic Wireless Window Alarm, every night for the past eleven months and the batteries are still in working order. I test the units every month or so, and I am still surprised by how loud the sirens are.

There is only one weak point with this window alarm product, It is the Velcro strips that come with it, for attaching the units to the windows…they are weak and will fail on you. Please do yourself a favor and invest in some decent quality double sided tape.

All things considered the Intermatic Wireless Window Alarm is a great buy, and is a really inexpensive alternative to a professional monitored alarm system. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone on a budget looking for protection for their home.
