Home Security Signs and
Decals
Most homeowners would willingly admit
to being are afraid of burglars; not just because they steal
your property but also because of the additional threat they
pose to your family. When you have a complete stranger inside
your home, it's not very difficult for him or her to physically
harm your family members. Yet many forget that the burglars
themselves are still human. They're just as vulnerable to
tricks of the mind and visual cues as you are. With that in
mind, you can see the potential effectiveness of a brutally
simple form of home security - signs and decals.
Home Security: Signs and Decals Do the Trick
Burglars and thieves are people too. It's just that they are
usually anonymous individuals; you probably wouldn't want to
get acquainted with them unless it's at a police lineup. They
can get scared and intimidated, just like any other person.
Given the right stimulus, you could actually elicit the
response you want - for the burglar to leave your home
alone.
When it comes to home security, signs and decals might not
seem like much when you first think about them. After all,
they're just stickers and signs stuck into the ground bearing
the trademark seal of security companies like ADT or Guardian.
They really won't be much if you think about them as just
flimsy items for physical security. But when you consider them
as psychological tools - which are what they are, really - you
could only imagine how effective they'd be.
Signs and Decals = Walls and Fences
You might not agree immediately, but signs and decals have
the same initial effect as physical barriers like walls and
fences. It's what's known as a deterrent, a message to any
intending burglar that you're serious about home security. You
might not think it's much when you send that kind of signal to
a criminal. However, from the point of view of a person who'd
rather not go to jail, it sends a message loud and clear - do
not enter!
Most burglars are methodical. They intentionally look for
the least protected property they can find, for a couple of
reasons. First, they'll need to exert less effort if there are
fewer securities to bypass. Secondly, there are better chances
of the heist succeeding without their getting caught. What
signs and decals do is to firmly move your home out of that
category, out of that classification and out of the burglars'
consideration.
Remember that it's not just about keeping burglars out of
your home. Keeping them away from your home in the first place
is the best kind of home security; signs and decals are able to
achieve that effect for minimal expense. Psychologically
speaking, they're just as effective as other more expensive
security measures, if not even more so. If you compare the cost
to the benefits, there's really no reason for you not to get
home security signs and decals.
