Home Security 101
Is your house actually safe? When
we ask ourselves that question we start to consider whether the
increased safety measures we have taken are really sufficient
to keep our home safe. Today your safety relies on how prepared
you are.
Primary modes of protection...they're a Burglar Alarm, Fire
Alarm and Safety Alarm. - Features of the home security system
may also include, a siren when doors or windows are opened. -
Fire alarm sensors are of 3 general classes : smoke, flame and
heat. - It can be turned on and deactivated with either an easy
turn of the key or a key pad control panel.
Fitting your doors with alarms is comparatively cheap and
their operation is infallible. You don't have to hire an
electrician to run the wires thru the ceiling or walls.
enhance your security with
locks.
since the time our ancestors lived in caves people have felt
the need to guard what they possess.
I am sure back then they used thorn bushes and brambles, then
at some point we discovered locks. They served the purpose
well, though they weren't so nicely designed. There's a lot of
historical explanation which talks of the use of locks long
before we could have possibly imagined. Even in the Bible ( Old
Testament, Books of Judges ) we have frequent mention of locks
and keys.
In our modern world we have keys and locks for everything :
the house, the office, the automobile, even boats and personal
watercraft have locks.
Basically we are talking about mechanical locks ( based
primarily on mechanical activation of the keys )
electro-mechanical locks ( can be both mechanical or electricly
turned on, but sometimes the key is replaced with numbered
buttons that have to be pressed ) and electric locks ( turned
on by a card key which has a particular code, programmed to be
read by a card reader which is controlled by an automatic
central or a local processor ).
Picking a modern lock is not a difficult thing for a
locksmith or a knoledgeble burglar with the right tools, but
also not as simple as it is often depicted the movies.
Some say picking a lock is both a science and a art.
We should have a good understanding of the lock mechanism
and, some practice. Firstly we insert a wrench in the lock to
maintain tension ( a screwdriver as an example ) and, with a
slight pressure, turn the plug ( the lock cylinder ) like the
correct key would have done ( we must figure out what's the
ordinary direction for the key to be turned ). Then we need to
insert a lock pick to lift them up ( like the correct key will
do when inserted in the lock ).
Doing this and by continuing to apply strain on the wrench
we should hear a slight click ( created by the pins when they
fall in the right position ) and the lock will be unlocked.
For cheap locks we are able to employ a metal hair pin as a
lock pick. But pro locksmiths need a sufficient pick tools kit.
Some can use an electric pick gun ( contains long pieces of
metal and when they vibrate push the pins up and unlock the
lock ).
sometimes a locksmith will need to change the key for a
lock. This is done by disassembling the lock cylinder and
replacing all of the old lock pins with new ones, to match the
new key. Then the cylinder is reinstalled in the lock.
This is normally done when the homeowner looses the house
key and assumes a burglar may use it. Upon moving into a new
apartment the first thing you need to do is re key the door
lock to stop a potential burglary. The better the lock is, the
harder it's going to be for a thief to bypass it, so always buy
quality!
Immitation
Cameras
Home security cameras is a smart way to look after your home
and protect it against would be burglars. A home security
camera system is basically any number of cameras that are
mounted, often, on the outside of your house to deter would be
thieves. A home security camera usually works hand in hand with
a home security system.
In most cases the home security camera is turned on by
motion and can swivel to start filming in the direction in
which motion is detected.
Installing cameras for multiple locations on your property
and the monitoring and recording apparatus can costly. So can a
imitation home security camera really be a useful way to guard
your house from robbery. A dummy camera is extraordinarily
convincing and can be tough to distinguish from a genuine home
security camera, and if a burglar belives it to be real it was
effective.
The more the dummy camera looks like the genuine thing, the
more likely it is to deceive thieves. The price may still be
lower than a genuine camera but it could be close enough in
price to a real security camera, that a cheap model could be a
better choice.
There are many cameras that come with a small price tag but
when the price is lower so is the qualty, wich may reduce its
effectiveness.
For many determining whether a dummy camera makes economical
sense has more to do with efficacy than it does with
finances.
A dummy security camera may actually be a reasonable home
security option but if is not effective, it will turn out
costing you way more than you saved on the purchase of a real
camera.
Purchasing a real home security camera will more than pay
for itself if it stops you from losing valuable or
irreplaceable pieces of property.
A genuine home security camera not only acts as a burglary
deterrent but in the event that thieves do enter your property,
a real security camera can record valuable proof that could be
helpful in regaining your property.
