This is an extremely bright security light that reliably goes on when motion is detected. A Manual Override is available so you can turn the  light off or on at your convenience with an existing indoor wall switch. Permitting the security light to stay on steadily all night if and when required.

I used it to replace an existing light that did not have a motion sensor.

Very simple to install, what I did was position the lighting housing and sensor before  installing the fixture. The fixture fitted right on the spot where the old lamp was, all that was required was connecting the wires and securing the fixture. Making changes to the settings are quite easy.

Be aware that little trees will cause the lamp to turn on should it become breezy.

With this unit, the only real way to keep the lights from turning on all night ( particularly when a breeze is continually moving patio-plant foliage ) is to dial down the sensitivity to  just about off, meaning that, on a quiet night with no breeze, motion-detection then becomes too slow -- bad for security or householder convenience.
